My son has been waiting for my phone as a hand-me-down since I have been waiting for the 6255i. Thats from about October. He is on 021 and wants to get on $10-00 txt on 027. So if the 6255 is another 6 months off I will have to get him a phone (Prop 2nd hand off trade me or something) till I get the 6255 (if it comes out).
So if its long way off still what would be your educated guess 2-3-5-6 months.
Its hard to say what the time frame will be. It is all dependant on how bad/good the software is and how many firmware rebuilds need testing. Some phones can go through 5 firmware versions before they get to market. NZ tends to be the beta tester for Nokia CDMA phones.
Went to trademe. Jeepers current models of Telecom prepay are selling for $30 odd bucks connected and I saw one that had reached reserve for $6.50 and was selling.
Jama: The 6255 has been tested in the field - I have seen it in the hands of one of the testers... Are you saying that it failed this field test and has gone back to square 1?
2 units were put in the field for initial function testing, that is it. It has not yet reached the official field test phase, this will happen when PTC is close to completion.

heres some facts from my contact.....
A680 - still in test, expected release within 4-6 weeks
8200 - in test, look out for it in March
6255 - in test, March timeframe for shops - Bluetooth is ENABLED.
question is, what bluetooth is enabled?
i want to use for PPP/data to and from my PDA.
i had a play with a 6255 long ago, and my headset worked (SE hbh-65).
i sent wallpapers and ringtones into the phone
i sent a contact from the phone to my Tungsten T...
i hope it goes to market with at least the PPP. other telcos has disabled this in other phones - but those telcos have unlimited wap/data usage plans and had incentive to do so..
Telecom doesn't have those kinda of plans (why not????)

I use the Harrier CDMA EV-DO with my laptop via Bluetooth. I only use to access my Exchange server and some emergency stuff. At 500Kbps, can you imagine some users with unlimited plan? They would use all the bandwidth available in a cell site!
i have several "friends" (can i use that term for people i met on a mailing list??)
that live the New York, and enjoy unlimited data plans EDGE data for US$80, and unlimited GPRS for US$20 from Cingular
I can't help but compare to the huge costs of data here.
Hey great feedback guys on the expected/guessed (although you have been pretty damn good lately) release dates for the phones.
If the 680 takes the full 6 weeks that means nothing in flip till March then we get the lot.
Still from the reaction I'm sensing here the ugly side of the 6255 doesn't even get a consideration compared to the features we all seem to be waiting for. Lucky they have the 7400 in the meantime or they'd have nothing current.
Nothing even talked about in the 1 megapixel camera range Eg the hyundai tx120c and the 130c or the Nokia 7610 ( my mate has one looks cool but only on Vodaphone) Still not a very good phone selection.
I just hope Telecom doesn't price the 6255i off the market.
If we are the beta testing ground for CDMA (as it has been mentioned here) how come by the time we get the so called latest phone it has often been and gone from the suppliers web site. EG the 8100 had been replaced by the 8200 when I went to check the spec. And the 8200 has been there for a long time (months) and we haven't even got it yet. The 6255i has been talked about since way b4 Xmas and Nokia have bought out heaps of phones since.
