Was buying my daughter a new phone this a.m. (Sat 15th) and mentioned I was waiting for the 6255 (preferably) and/or the a680 to upgrade myself. The young lady noted that they had been told to expect the a680 next week - but hadn't heard any update on the Nokia. Of course, we have all herad these stories before (!) but it sounds promising for imminent arrival of the samsung at least.

good feedback thanks for that!!

My wife will be pleased as she is the one after the A680. I'll still have to wait longer for the 6255i.

Looks like Harvey Norman beat Telecom as it is not in their shops or in the website as yet. Telecom probably didnt make the print time of Harvey Normans promo. I bet Harveys aren't pleased about no stock for their promo. I called a Telecom store 2day and no A680 as yet.

That may be the case - although Rodney Communications also have it listed at $599 - but have a comment that it is due early February!(http://www.silverdalemobile.co.nz/phones.asp?a=0).
Hard to know what to believe - ever hopeful that my first post is closest to the mark!

Ive left my number with the guys at the local shop and will post when they call to say the 680 is in. But they have said they don't know when delivery is until the phones arrive at the door. Seems strange that they don't get any run through of the features B4 they go on sale though??

At this stage the 680 is still in the testing phaseat Telecom , so it still awhile to go yet

Very very silly in light of the last post for Telecom, to be letting their suppliers advertise the A680 if it is a while off yet. They just leave themselves open to ridicule all the time!!

But none of us know when they will release not even their shops

The release date of the A680 has been pushed back. For some reason they have held it at the testing stage for longer than anticipated. Rumours are that it will not be out until march, but i have a feeling this is a bit of misinformation. Should be late jan early feb.

Harveys have received a lot of flak for advertising a handset that is still in testing.

If the stores are doing their jobs, the staff should be relatively up to speed with the specs and features of the phone.

The Nokia 6255 went through testing, but IMHO it is butt ugly. Couple this with TC's avoidance of Bluetooth, I would be surprised if you saw it on the shelves. Have not heard of the test results for it at all. So far as functionality goes, the tester I know had no gripes. But to quote my vodafone friend: "It's all about style..."

Keep an eye out for Sanyo 8200...

Hehe... like always, we are kept in the dark. You know - competitors can get hold of this info as easily as you :)

Sorry about the re-edit about the 6255 - misread it as 6225i...
