I doubt Vodafone will release the T630 without Live! branding. In fact I have already seen firmware for the phone that includes the branding (for other countries) so that doesn't sound very promising: T630_EU6_CXC125784_R6B004 is the version string, the EU6 indicates Vodafone branded software.
I flashed it onto my T610 to check it out, but because of the different screen all you end up with is a bright white screen.

It's strange, but true. I've got an e-mail from Sony Ericsson confirming this after I saw the posts on the forum. Also they've confirmed yesterday they'll launch both black and white versions here in NZ. Have a look on this thread.

Sorry, I hadn't read that before I posted (bad me)

That's very intereseting, I'm glad to hear it. I'm wondering if they haven't had so many people complain about the branding. I haven't met anyone yet that prefers it once they've seen my unbranded one.

And thanks to the other poster for the offer of a T630, but I'm saving up for a P900

they wouldnt brand the p900 cuz its mainly a business phone, all the other vlive branded phones are mainly for younger people that just use it for fun.

I love my z600 Vodafone Live branded mobile.

I can check things like sport, news and weather all with the press of one button.

Bluetooth is great my Ipaq connects effortlessly to download my emails.

My laptop connects effortlessly to download my emails and surf the web all by Bluetooth.

Also my bookmarks are easy to get to and effortlessy connect to other WAP sites of my choosing.

Oops did I mention the phone is a z600 Vodafone Live branded!

Vodafone Live complements my phone.

It is interesting that unbranding voids the warranty and that SE and Vodafone have contracts in place that will not allow removal of vlive.
Surely that is the same as Microsoft OEM installation where you had to buy MS stuff. After a number of rulings MS could not be bundled or if it was the consumer could return it and request a refund.

It is harder I know with flashed gear but one would suggest that someone with the inclination (and money) would probably win in court using this precendence.

Have emailed SE and told them what I think of it and that quite frankly I'm about to dump my phone for another brand all because of vlive invasiveness in the phone. Know it won't come to much but hey its worth a try.

Anyone know of someone in NP who can flash the phone. Also has anyone had problems with a flashed phone?

The T630 is "supposed" to not have VLive branding (see my thread), i guess we'll find out whether it will or not...

What was the outfit that you bought your phone from (you mentioned you got it through some importers). Can you provide details ?

Also are these importers cheaper than buying it through shops?

I'm keen on getting the SE S700 when its released but if its got Vodafone Live on it I'd start looking at getting an imported one..

Cheers

Do you know something about them that I dont????

Care to spill the beans?

The design is growing on me, will be looking forward to the S700 reviews. You dont need to have the phone flipped open to make calls or muck around with it, only if ur txting or dialing a number thats not in ur addy book.

The P900 looks ok, but I dont really like the flip keyboard thingy.

Anyways I should see if theres a k700 / S700 specific forum.

Maybe we could start a S700 vs P900 forum I'm sure there would be a few interesting discussions LOL
