They have been waiting for the stock to arrive at the stores. The fact that it is available at the online store means that they have arrived at their distributer... so either way they will be in stores soon and I will ask about the Vodafone Live.
I have found a few online stores that get their phones from the same distributer (ie: not from vodafone [who act as a middleman while installing their softare] so might be able to order a non customised version soon. Will see if DSE are customised.
Can you give us the link to these other online stores that deals with the same distributor as DSE, i may be interested in talking to them when the S700 is released
Yeah i'll get them from my favourites when I get home tonight...
To find them i did a search at www.google.co.nz selecting the only NZ option. I searched for the T630 (which most of them have in stock now) and then e-mailed them to see whether they plan on stocking the K700... haven't got some of the replies yet.
Na they won't be able too... they have a deal with vodafone etc... thats how they get to sell them and advertise vodafone etc :(. Annoying but I have expected it, they didn't stock the T630 which wasn't customised, funny aye :P
Will get those sites for you in about an hour I hope.
Actuallly just realised I have one of them now... it was in my hotmail. You better not take the first stock :D

Are your phones customised with Vodafone Live etc... because I have heard
from a friend that has got their hands on one that the customisation spoils
the phone.
Apparently SE designed a new menu etc and then VF changed it all when they
flashed the phones.
Please say that VF havn't got their hands on your phones as well.

We can't sell Vodafone branded phones so that is no problem :)

I know you probably don't know yet but do you have an estimate for the
price. I have seen it from $700-$900 around the place...

Not yet no, we supply NZ new phones, we do not import, we have to wait until
the NZ dist brings them in.
Vodafone retail got theirs in store today!!! (I already did a sneaky and got mine last weekend - loving it so far!!) major improvement on memory!! Goes faster than t-610, not being able to use MP3 as ringtones kinda sux but that may get fixed with software upgrades - similar things happend on T610.
Sorry to tell you this Theresa but you can use MP3 as ring tones, but Vodafone disabled them on Vodafone Live enabled K700.
Well actually I'm incorrect, you can use MP3 ring tones on VF enabled K700 phones BUT you have to order them from the VF LIVE site, its Vodafones way of screwing you for extra money.
If you had an unbranded K700 you could use any MP3 for ring tone.
Sux eh
In respect to Acent, I asked them and they said they will stock the phone once Vodafone give the go ahead, sposed to be unbranded too, i guess the man that told me could be wrong.
I personally think you all need to smell the roses here. You issue here is with Sony Ericsson not Vodafone.
Its like me telling the local Holden dealer that the cars in OZ have a CD 10 speaker setup but here in NZ we get the CD plus 2 speakers and its all the fault of the car dealer in New Market.
(made up story)
Look if Sony Ericsson made and sold phones branded with Live and they are configured differently and thats what Vodafone have its your choice to purchase this is or not.
Also I know Vodafone dont import phones thats done through suppliers.
If Sony Ericsson dont sell a unbranded stock here in NZ well this is where you should send the hate mail to Sony Ericsson.
Everytime there is a new phone all this rubbish is rehashed over and over - get used to it you are free to purchase a phone on the open market.
Thousands of customers are happy with their phones and vodafone services.
Sorry - but even the MP3's on the Vodafone Live site can't be used as ringtones. However using MP3's as ringtones has some disadvantages too (can't remember what they are off the top of my head).
I have to say - not having seen one that is not Vodafone branded - that I'm quite happy with what I have! Now if only my Ipaq would recognise it as a bluetooth dialup modem . . .
Mobile Guy, spoken like only a true Vodafone fanboy could.
I don't have a problem with the vodafone live! software so long as it allows me to use gprs, pxt, etc. with another operator (eg. when I'm in the States I use TMobile). Talking to the guy in the vodafone store it seems I can change the settings however I like so not a problem.
I don't like how the v! software limits functions and doesn't give you the choice to use the SE menus/features.
As for who to complain to, definitely Vodafone, they make the live! software and have SE flash the phones with it. SE no doubt has a contract with them that doesn't allow vodafone retailers to import unbranded phones.
