I took up sdavisnz's suggestion to take it to him. He is a legend and flashed it with the Vodafone firmware which has ended up improving the phone's performance anyway (signal strength at home is much better compared to what it was with the stock Spark firmware).

Sorry my initial question and dislike of customisation got so many people riled up!
