What planet are you on Slippers??????

>Telecom's PTT is NOT done on a per minute basis.

>At the moment it is $10 per month for 300 'pushes' and they 'won't charge for anything >over 300' + 2 months free.

Telecoms PTT solution IS time based and is $10 for 300 minutes!

Vodafone is session based charging you per push.

Have you guys had a play with the two different options...?

The Voda one has a heap more features, specifically presence functions like Instant Messaging. You get a :-) when peoples phones and ptt are on - it rocks.

Also, the Telecom one seems like a cheap hack... the sanyo I was on would only do 1 thing at once - ie. if your in a PTT 'conversation' and someone tries to ring, they go through to voicemail without the phone ringing (even if no one is actually talking at the time on PTT). Likewise if your surfing a wap site! Talk about frustrating, I'd miss a heap of calls (and then have to bear the cost of calling the person back :-/ )!

Not sure why Telecom haven't made it so that the data session just pauses while your on the phone like Voda has? (bring on Vodas 3g where you can do both at the same time I say!)

No doubt which I'd be going for!

Voda PTT works around the world in about 25 countries, Where ever GPRS roaming is. Not cheap but it works.

Can anybody tell me how the presence screen updates are charged on Vodafone? Is this being charged at your plans GPRS rates or included in the PTT? On Vodafones website it mentions that you will be charged for this while roaming as well as the PTT sessions.

I've asked around a few places and the presence is Free of Charge! :-)
(didn't ask about while roaming though)

IMHO - Makes it an attractive offer even without the rest of the push to talk functionality :-D

I'm assuming Vodafone actually register the URL for the presence server on their billing system so no traffic is actually logged in the GPRS billing system for that site?

Presence is not free while roaming (says that on Vodafones site).

Do you work for Vodafone Pernod? If so can you shed any light on the WAP billing issues discussed here? http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=10&topicid=3140&page_no=2

Where did you get that info from?

I called Telecom and asked about this and they were pretty confident in telling me it was per push.

Voda charges per push

Telecom charges per minute - $10 for 300 minutes.

I don't know where you all get your information from.

Telecoms P2T is absolutely time based, NOT per push based.
