Hey all, not to cause havoc on that touchy subject but i wanna keep this topic going for new info that may come up for the 6600.

If anyone is interested but i did get the opera web viewer & THE WAP BROWSER to work sweet as on the nokia 6600 on the following settings.
Vodafone live is not suppose to work with these settings also - i wouldn't waste my time or money with voda live anyway...paying like 4 bucks for a ringtone is a joke.

"Nokia 6600 GPRS Settings" instructions.

1. push MENU and select TOOLS

2. push SETTINGS and select CONNECTION

3. select ACCESS POINT NAME

4. push OPTIONS and select NEW ACCESS POINT

5. select USE DEFAULT SETTINGS

6. select CONNECTION NAME and enter GPRS INTERNET

7. select DATA BEARER and set to GPRS

8. select ACCESS POINT NAME and enter www.vodafone.net.nz (note: you must leave user name and password an BLANK. So make sure not to enter anything by mistake because it wont work and it's a real pain to get rid of it once it has been saved.

9. select PROMPT PASSWORD and set to NO.

10. select AUTHENTICATION and set SECURE (note: this may not always show as an option, so if it doesn't just ignore it because it means that it's already been set).

11. leave gateway I.P addresses set to 0.0.0.0 (as mentioned above this may also not show in the settings sometimes, so if it doesn't please ignore it OK)

12. select back to finish the setup.

13. AND NOW MY FRIENDS YOU CAN SURF ANYTHING YOU LIKE "JUST NOT THE VODAFONE LIVE WEBSITE". BUT OTHER THAN THAT I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS SO FAR SO PLEASE ENJOY.

BTW - try the BLADE 2 WAP SITE http://blade.mywap.genie.co.uk/ for heaps of good free stuff for your nokia.
Skip passed the first 2 links and go to MORE link, then ENTER DOWNLOADS. Skip 1st link POLYPHONICS (pay site), then all the rest is pure free goodness :P

Tried the above instructions. It did work sweet for awhile. which was cool. But now its not doing anything.

In oprea it just sits there once you have typed the address in. Nothing happens.

Anyhelp would be apprecaited!!

Hi Deadpool - i did have that problem once or twice and i wasn't sure why?? - i just re-tried and it went ok.

Is there anyone out there with the opera sis file that they can send to my e mail address?? - i was fiddling around with the app manager and deleted Opera!!! - hmm... beers and phone don't mix with me it seems.

If anyone could please send that through that would be a big help.

You don't know what caused it to stop working? cause mine hasn't started working again yet.

I've re made the connection heaps of times still dosn't work.

Up the top in opera it just says localhost. could that be the cause of the problem?

PXT still does not work, either the WAP2.0 gateway upgrade has been delayed or there are changes to be made to http://pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend.

I have, but I just got that email from vodafone today, I think I'd rather believe them. I might get a 6600 soon so it's bad for me and all the other 6600 users.
I think they're delaying it so ppl cant take advantage of the free pxting. when free pxt was ending by the end of feb they said they'd get it done by feb some time, now free pxt is ending by the end of march and now they're saying they'll get it done by march some time.

some how i don't think vodafone will delay one phone being launch due to free pxting when you think about how many people already PXT. and how many people are going to buy a new phone with in the first week to use pxt? not many... if any. So what gain would VF honestly have in delaying it for a week?

I believe johnr that yes they will upgrade this weekend. The reason you might of been told march is in case they need to role back to the current wap. Which does happens when things go live for the first time. (fingers cross it dosn't)

GPRS/Opera: still surfing fine. Check your default access point in Opera if you have been fiddling by adding a PXT access point this will stop it working.
