What a experience today. Started my laptop, inserted the Vodafone MCC and connected to GPRS. After 30 minutes couldn't download a single page 100%. And it used almost 1MB.

1MB for nothing. I was in an area where the power was down because of the latest storm, so that was the only communication tool I had. Luckily landlines started working, so I managed to dial-up to Paradise.net.

SMS worked fine though, got a couple of them. That was in Pauatahanui, hardly the end of the world, just around the corner from Wellington.

Hi,

I understand that due to the storm and all this wild weather a lot of cell Sites are on battery power as the power is down.

The info is everyone is working hard to get the power company to put the power back on.

Generators I understand are in short supply.

You shouldnt have been charged if you could not connect to GPRS. If so Im sure Vodafone will look into this and do the right thing.

Actually I was connected to the GPRS network. Pages were 50% downloaded. The thing is that after 30 minutes and almost 1MB traffic I didn't get a single page 100%.

Oh, well. Can't complain much, I know it is not WGTN CBD, but I'd expect a better coverage around the area - it's not like the middle of the road to nowhere.

But, that's ok. No life in danger because of that.

Prob has to do with what cell you where on as that cell may have more traffic due to other cells in the area being busy or down. As you you know voice always take priority over GPRS and all to do with how many free chanells on that cell.
