Ok so its still six months till this really affects me, but it seems that the Vodafone Smart3 plan for iphone is unparalleled by anything else.
This plan is not currently offered anymore, which is a shame because it offers:

3 Gb data per month
240 minutes per month
2500 texts per month
1000 pxt (whatever they are) per month

Oh, and I also paid only $200 for the iphone 4 after signing for 24 months.

all for $85 per month.

Nothing else comes close as far as I can see. There was a huge promotion at the time and I'm wondering if there will be a whole bunch of us customers in March next year looking to resign a similar contract?

Who is offering that kind of data and minutes package at around $80 month???

Nothing compares, I'm on a similar plan, the 1000 free pxt's combined with the 3.25 gig of data make the plan worthwhile even if I don't always use all my data or calls/texts.
I've had a couple of phone calls and emails recently suggesting I change plan to one "more suitable" for me, they don't seem to get the fact I'm happy on my plan until they offer a better value plan which is not looking likely any time soon.

If you use more than 1GB of data nothing comes close. If you're happy with 1GB of data you could switch to 2degrees and pay $39.

I've also had phone calls from Vodafone who can't seem to comprehend their current plan offerings are total rubbish.

I had trouble finding the 1GB data offering on 2degrees, it seems to show up with a lousy 100mb limit on the $39 plan.

Sometimes I use 1.5GB data per month which would be exorbitant on any current plans.

Why resign? Just stay on your smart3 plan, its not like it expires

I'm in a similar situation, currently on smart2, given the luxury of 3gb/mth I have become a fairly heavy data user and would feel totally throttled on anything less so I will be holing on to my plan for as long as i can

I thought the plan would just expire after 24 months, and I'd have to migrate to a newer plan.
It would be great to just stay on as you say, thanks I didn't think of that.

Try 2degrees. Sign up for the $59 monthly plan and buy 12 GB of data for $99 for 6 months. This gives you:

310 minutes
2500 texts
Zero pxts (whatever they are)
1.15 GB of national data
2 GB of mobile broadband data.

Cost is $75.50 per month on average.

Comes close to what you have with Vodafone?

David.

Term contract plans don't "expire". Once the term contract is up things just carry on as usual.

It's mentioned in big print at the top of their plan page - a 1GB bonus for 2 years.

When the contract term ends the plan stays the same you don't lose the 3GB
