Soo as the title states I bricked my phone (basically) the short of it is I was trying to upgrade my LG Optimus 2x to a Modded ICS OS (Eagles Blood) but am now in a boot loop.

The phone will start get to the unlock screen then restart about 3 - 5 seconds later leaving no time to get anything done.

I am not able to boot into the recovery mode on restart either (hold down power and volume down on restart) it just skips to loading the Eagles Blood OS.

I am at a loss as to what to do so I am wondering if anyone has any ideas or better still knows of anyone in the greater Wellington region that does rooting of phones and or repairs. I actually have a full backup on my phones SD card ready to go back to the old OS but as I can't get to recovery mode I can't get that going.

In all honesty I would even be happy if I could just get the phone back to it's original state running a stock rom froyo / gingerbread.

Please someone help me. Please note yes I have heard of XDA and have had numerous mods loaded (by myself) without being able to fix any other probs myself.

sounds like a soft brick as hard brick you wouldn't get that far. Don't know anything of lg optimus but try taking battery out for 30 seconds then switch on using volume up???

Sadly same result. I've tried power on with volume down and with volume up both boot as normal then loops once loads into lock screen. Also tried power on with no battery and that just either goes to software upgrade mode (with volume down) or just get the LG logo and no further.

I am at a loss as I really don't know if I can get by without my phone lol.

LG have a tool for updating stock firmware, you can also use it for a type of "emergency firmware recovery" which I'm pretty sure just downloads and flashes whatever stock rom corresponds to your IMEI number. I had a play around with it a few years ago and I'm pretty sure I still have it on my PC at home. I'll have a look tonight and post back.

That would be great I am not overly sure if I can get the phone showing up on a pc but hey it's worth a crack anything to save having to get a new phone and or a 2nd hand one and reflashing my old image on there as a new phone obviouls will not have things as I did and finding a new O2x could be rather difficult.

I'd just upgrade to a Note 2 if I could afford to but only just recently bought a new pc so getting a new phone too is not really a option at the moment (unless downgraded for a year) :-( lol

Thanks I just tried that first link but my pc will do the usb device connected sound but then comes up with a device install error. I try updating the driver but it say windows has stopped the device under error code 43. I've tried the suggested fixes for that and nothing works.

Just downloading the stuff from that 2nd link and hopefully that will see me right. I think i'm suffering withdrawal symptoms. lol

Sadly still no joy on this thanks for the help so far I've submitted a thread on XDA and fingers crossed they're not gonna tell me it's beyond repair.

I am stillwilling to know if anyone knows any repair agents who do mods / rom installs / rooting phones etc as I really am willing to pay for this to be fixed to a point i can reinstall my backup just can't afford to replace something that's played such a important part of my life for the last near 18 months or so. Yes yes I know that sounds kinda sad but i really like my phone.

Hey sorry for the late reply, if you follow these instructions you should be able to get the phone working again on stock firmware.

1. Download the zip containing the mobile updater and usb drivers. I can't remember where I got it from so here's a dropbox link.

2. Install Mobile Updater

3. Remove Battery from the phone and plug it to the Computer while Holding Vol-Up Button. Display should now show S/W Upgrade

4. Start the Mobile Updater, install USB-Drivers if required

5. In the Menu of the Mobile Updater choose Customer Service -> Emergency Repair

6. Enter the IMEI of your Phone when the Updater asks for it and click Check

7. This will flash the phone back to stock firmware. All Partitions except the Data Partition will be reflashed, however I wouldn't rely on this retaining your data, I would always assume that it will wipe everything.

It's been a while since I've used this but I'm pretty sure this is what I did with one of my LG phones.

Although I will try the above pretty sure I've been through these steps numerous times but I am still willing to try pretty much anything.

On the occassion where I have gotten the lg software updater to pick up the phone briefly entering this emergency recovery asks for imei I enter that it gives me the model of the phone and that it's running v30a software then it goes to the next screen where I enter IMEI and also the S/N of my phone then errors out to request I go to online mobile support but then links to lg world homepage.

My issue is that the phone is not being picked up by the pc to allow any of these fixes to work or go through the motions. The other night I finally got the usb driver install to start gave me the unsigned driver warning (whihc it had not allowed me to get to any other time) I thought yay and got excited finally it's gonna work then it started installing the driver then errored out giving code 10 as the reason. Research of code 10 tells me faulty driver install lol. To which I was tearfully going no sh**.

After this I found an exact model online through Trademe and am picking this up tonight. I am yet to decide if I will root the phone and load the nandroid image from prior to the failed install or just use titanium backup to load up the apps I still want on the stock gingerbread and lose a weeks worth of updates (as this was setup to do weekly backups Sunday nights and I stuffed my phone Sunday morning).

Like I said though certainly appreciate the suggestions and have tried them all to date and will try the above as if I can still get the busted one working my partner gets a upgrade (if she wants it).

I will post back with whether the above worked or not and what i decide to do regarding loading the full backup or just the apps.

Right so I tried the above on my netbook just to eliminate 64bit systems as the problem and although I did get to the update stage the driver install still stated my device was not recognised but I was still able to download the device driver but the install stopped at 4% and hung there even after disconnecting the phone the uupdate program did not even try telling me I've disconnected the phone.

So in summary I'm at a loss have bought a new phone but even that is stuck on old Froyo and will not be picked up by my pc either so i have a good working old OS phone but i am yet to try updating through the netbook for the new phone.

Just fyi I had problems flashing with Odin. Turned out to be the usb 3.0 ports on my laptop. Tried through the usb 2.0 ports on my docking station and had no issues. Might be a similar issue?

Thanks for that advice but Odin seems to be more Samsung related although I too have noticed that some things will work from a usb2 point not a usb3 one.
