My Wife's Samsung Galaxy S2 is turning off intermittently (Im not talking about power saving mode but is actually turning off completely).  Is this likely to be a setting or a fault? It happens regardless of the charge level of the battery.  The phone is less than a year old so probably under warranty.

You could try a factory reset see if that works. Just back up your photos, music etc first.

Is it the i9100 or i9100T (Telecom version)?

I had to send mine away (i9100T) and it required a mainboard replacement.

Happened to a few of my friends too. Also Telecom versions

what firmware version arer you running, have you updated it since you got it. Is it rooted?. What, if any, new apps have you installed prior to this happening.

Thanks all for the replies. Phone is a GTI9100T. Android v4.1.2, not sure how to tell Firmware version. The phone's not rooted. Sounds like a good approach backing it up and doing a factory reset, if the problem still persists then I'll will take it in to be looked at.

Since the jellybean upgrade mine has been often totally locking up in the apps, I can pull the notification panel up and down for a little while, then it totally locks and will reboot a few mins later.

I have got it out of my pocket and found it off a couple of times, turned on and heaps of battery left.

Has anyone had a decent outcome arging CGA with telecom over their phones? Im stuck on a now overpriced 2 year contract for this damn thing.

My experience with Telecom/Telegistics/DSE & the CGA on Prepaid has been poor, I'm now also facing issues with my i9100T, excessive battery drain (at least 20% more over a 17 hour period) and the helpful feature of killing my WiFi AP (for which I need to test against another AP first), if it comes to needing to file a repair, I'm not looking forward to it, as last time I had a Samsung phone with firmware issues, it took _FOUR_ (the last to 'verify that it was a genuine refund claim') repairs for them to authorize a refund.  While it was in the fourth time, a firmware update was released that fixed the issue, at which point Telegistics contacted me trying to get me to accept the repair instead of refund.

I actually even got her to admit, that they knew what the problem was - and that their 'repairs' would do nothing from repair #1.

The only semi-good CGA story I know of is Steve (openmedia here) managed to get Telecom to accept an out of warranty i9100T repair without bond etc, as he got Samsung to confirm to the store that it was a known product fault (to do with the power connector).  Pretty sure the next handset I get won't be of Telecom origin.
