Hi Guys,

I'm using an O2 xphone (similar to Qtek 8080 & I-mate Smartphone2) and I can't send MMS/PXT messages. I can receive MMS/PXT but can't open attachments. I can browse the internet and use email etc as well as receive and send regular SMS. Any help in MMS/PXT configuration would be greatly appreciated. I've already contacted Vodafone NZ but they're not helpful at all. They keep directing me to their website for configurations but my phone has different set-up system compared to other phones being configured by Vodafone as they don't have the model I'm using.

Hi,

Something that a lot of people don’t do is read the manual that comes with the phone. It shows you how to put the settings in the phone and where they go and you just put in the settings.

For anyone else it’s on www.vodafone.co.nz

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/vlive/vlive_specifications.jsp

The WAP, GPRS PXT (MMS) are the same on all handsets except the Nokia 6600 which use port 8080 for MMS instead of 9201

APN live.vodafone.com
MMS server address http://pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend
GPRS ID username blank
GPRS ID password blank
Connection mode Connection orientated / permanent / continuous connection
MMS automatic download On
(Automatically downloads full MMS)
PPP authentication type PAP (default)
Proxy authentication password blank
Proxy authentication username blank
Proxy login type Automatic (default)
Security Off
WAP gateway IP address 172.030.038.003

If the above does not work which it may not you will have to contact Vodafone support, as this phone may need a firmware upgrade to use MMS here in New Zealand.

It’s a 6.5 MB file

The ones Vodafone NZ sells don’t need this. You get these sorts of issues with dual imported handsets and the MMS upgrade may not be free.

Thanks for replying. I have quite a few gadgets with me and first thing I do when I get them is to familiarise myself with the manual and CD Rom that comes with the product. Unfortunately with this particular fone, it doesn't say which is which. I've already contacted vodafone several times, I have printed out the different configurations (the ones you've patiently written, thank you) and tried to match it with the fone setting few weeks ago, still of no avail. Again, internet browsing, email, sms is working fine. The only thing I didn't know is the firmware upgrade for MMS. I didnt know there is such a thing and thank you for informing me. I'll investigate this further.
