What do I need to be able to flash the firmware on a nokia 1100?

I have got one which I thought just needed sim unlocking, but actually has got some custom software on it that does the prepay balance. It also needs to have 900/1800 enabled, which I know is a software thing on most nokias since a few years ago.

So, whats the cable I need and the software, otherwise is there someone that does it for cheap in auckland?

You'll need the obsolete MBUS adaptor for it such as: http://ucables.com/ref/NK-1100/

Then you'll need a suitable flasher such as Rollis tools, look on this site: http://www.unlockme.co.uk/downloads.html

Then you need to find a firmware file. That's the tricky bit as they're very difficult to find as they're illegal to distribute. You might find it easier to take it to the mobile phone repair store and see if you can explain to them what a firmware is and that you want a new one put onto your phone. They'll probably sting you around $50 and take 2-3 days.

Just the cable and appropriate software should let you turn frequencies on/off if the firmware supports doing so though. Unlocking can be done via a key, software is on that site to generate one.

Its been unlocked but tracfone have a counter on the phone, so even if it would see vodafone then it would only work till the counter expired. tracfone send updates to the counter out to the phones when you recharge them.

I've found some firmware, that was the easy part although it came in a self extracting exe so I thought I should fire up a vmware machine to extract it ;)
