I had a similar problem with my T68 and my T610. The handset would drop the connection, and Internet Connect on the computer would not recognise that the connection had been dropped, which meant that I had to reboot the computer in order to reconnect.

The solution was to find an appropriate script for this handset. You can download a script from www.taniwha.org.uk. If you're using Internet Connect on MacOS X, then you just need to put the script in the library/modem scripts folder, select that script under 'modem type' in the network preferences, and enter the phone number as 'www.vodafone.net.nz' (that last bit is quite important).

The procedure to do this on other operating systems should be fairly similar.
