Is anyone else on Geekzone watching whats going on here?

http://jolla.com/

They've made some exciting announcements recently, two being the access to Android apps and the incorporation of Nokia's Here.

The announcement of their next release of handsets is due soon. It will be interesting to see if New Zealand is among the countries they will ship to.

I'm a big fan of the Meego OS on the N9. Sailfish shares its origins with Meego.  I'd be keen to see and try a Jolla handset.

Meego is a beautiful system. This one looks interesting and I guess if it can run Android apps then installing Amazon App Store (my preference) would give you a lot of the apps for the platform.

With the release date of the 27th of November drawing close it will be interesting to see how the Sailfish OS stacks up.

I think it was a shame bordering on criminal that Meego never got the development and marketing it deserved.  Hopefully Sailfish carries on from where Meego left off.

I'd consider splashing out for a Jolla handset.  Sometimes it's nice to have something a bit different and interesting.

They will be available unlocked in Nordic countries first. I wonder where they will be next.

Their website says "works on six continents" and "List of supported countries and operators will be published later".

I'm guessing we should know more soon after the 27th.

The pre release phone gets quite a good write up here http://thenextweb.com/gadgets/2013/06/13/hands-on-with-jollas-first-smartphone-running-sailfish-os/
