Hey u know the with voda red sim,if u have no credit it's free gprs! Anyways it will just make ur account a minus balance and will keep on charging, so if u recharge you'll probably have a $0 balance. Anyways I think this is the fact! I was testing something today using my voda no plans & optus prepaid with no credit to connect to laptop and use gprs there so the mobile acts as a modem and in theory you'll get free internet. I've called both vodafone au and optus au and both replied that linking devices are not avaiable for prepaid (although voda's site is very deceiving and makes no mention that linking devices is not available for prepaid). Anyways being the person I am, if you configure your the thing and with voda use the active access point: live.vodafone.com and for optus: prepaidyesoptus using the dialup number of *99# a connection can be made (to a PPP server), with the works (gives you the IP address and everything). However, using the browser it wont work! I tried using proxy servers with no success, anyone have any ideas or is this a dead end?

Also does anyone know if voda nz's system for gprs is faulty like au's? Cos I was able to do it with voda nz sim (using new zealand settings) and it charged me $2 for opening nothing much! Anyways anyone who can help please do.

Is that for real that if you happen to overspend on prepaid that you'll get debitted on your next card?

I thought that it was a system responsibility to cut you off - and you shouldn't get penalised if the system can't do that. That's a system fault .....
