Can anyone help with this matter?

I just got myself the i-mate smartphone2 and want to setup for GPRS. Optus does not have the setup information for the phone, they sent me setup information for Qtek 7070, it is almost the same but the setting does not work. I got help from Ken at Microsoft newsgroup and he too gave me a setting that does not work.

I basically need to know the steps needed and the setting (numbers and so on) to setup the phone for GPRS, WAP and MMS. Though I can do without MMS.

Can anyone HELP!

I am almost ready to throw the phone if I can't get it to work.

Hello! The settings for the QTEK7070 should work just fine on your i-mate Smartphone2. Please check again for any incorrect configuration.

In the meantime I'm trying to contact a person I had exchanged e-mails before at Optus and see if I can find something else.

I am not having much luck :(

I follow the instruction to the latter and I still can't get it to work.

There is only one difference from the instruction given was that under WAP Connection field is say to arrow across to Internet but on my phone I dont have Internet as a choice. the only thing there is automatic and I have try that too.

I now went back to the setting given to me by imate manufacturer and that is to just set the GPRS to internet and Access Point to Internet too. There is no setting for proxy or any other fields.

I am going to try a setting I just recieved via email from O2 to see if that will work. If that fail I may give up on imate smartphone2 all togather and go back to my Panasonic X70 and use bluetooth to connect my HP 2210.

I will keep you posted.

Thanks again!

Victor, O2 settings will not work on Optus. The operators probably use different APN, DNS servers and other settings, like user authentication.

You have to really find the Optus configuration. Try calling their help desk. The companies in general have a way to send configuration over the air (OTA).

Hello Victor. Got an e-mail from Optus, and in short they say that because they have no current plans of releasing the Smartphone2 on their network they don't have information available on configuration.

Interesting, because the configuration should be the same as the QTEK 7070.
