hi i own a 3105 on the telecom network, there have been some dku-5 usb cables on trademe and was wondering the compatibility of them

are all dku-5 cables compatibile with each phone? i would hate to buy one finding out that they are phone specific (i.e 3100 dku-5 being different than the 3105 dku-5)

and if someone could tell me their retail worth it would be nice

Thank you in advance

The DKU-5 cable will work and has been tested on every Nokia CDMA phone

They are worth between $180 and $200 brand new at most stores.

The one you brought is a proper 'Nokia' one? Not a regular imported cable? Because proper Nokia cables do cost a bit. :o

nokia logo came up during installation of the drivers but it could very well be an import

do i care? not really i was never going to fork out $180 for a new one retail, frankly i feel that is way too much for just an cable, paid enough for the darn phone

works great, nice to be able to personalise your phone without having to give money to telecom for games or ringtones etc etc, they charge something like $2.95 for an 10kb picture or $3.95 for a 5kb midi, graveyard robbery to the fullest

ameet.b, the problem you're experiencing is one of the problems with the cheaper DKU-5 3rd party cables.

although our APT (available in NZ) cables are 3rd party aswell, the problem you're having was encountered some time back, and corrected. It is related to the hardware within the cable, and changes made to the interface on the phone. Older DKU-5 style phones will work fine, but not newer.

Long story short, the cable you have wont' work with the PC suite software. You could try some of the Oxygen software I've heard people mention before, but you'll need a better cable to use the PC Suite software.

You get what you pay for

I bought a "fake" off trademe, $35 bucks with a free car charger it works a treat with my 2280, but is terrible on my new 6225. I will buy a NOKIA one when I go overseas.
The phone I think recognises it as a fake and stymies it. It all happened after I went into "telecom" folder on the phone. There's all the Important network setting and customisations in there and the really detailed bits (Will not be explained here as it WILL DESTROY YOUR PHONE)

ameet.b same things happens to mine also, saying it has ended, i know with mine its lying hehe

um i had detection issuies with win98 with it only staying live for a few minutes, on xp it will stay connected for as long as you want it too

also you MUST install the driver before loading on pc suite other wise it will NOT work

if you would like to email me directly to help (more than happy too) my email is funky_jesus@hotmail.com

LOL, In that case I'd probably send it away for servicing. Firmware upgrade/and/or repairs.
