hey experts,

i really need your help in this. i let my v800 run outta battery and now it just wont charge. It shows me a red light when i charge it. I have tried a different charger(even a car charger) and even bought a new battery. Infact when i put in the new battery it was fine until i tried to charge it and now thats dead too :(. It shows me the red light when i charge it and will turn on for about 30 seconds and then die again. I think its the phone as i have tried swapping the battery and the charger and im just wondering if there is anything i can do to charge the battery again.

any ideas or help would be much appreciated :)

thanks in advance

I've got the same phone. Haven't seen the red light before.  From memory the light should be a solid green when charging.
I've done a google search for you, plus searched Sony's website but they don't seem to have any references anymore to the V800. :( It sounds like the batteries are dead, probably due to them not charging.  Have you tried another charging plugpack?
You could also try cleaning the terminals on the bottom of the phone / charger plug.

Cheers,

thanks for your reply ZollyMonsta :)

Yes, you are right, it has a solid green light when its on charge. I get a red light instead indicating some sort of error. I have tried another normal charger to no effect if thats what u mean by a "charging plugpack". Or do you mean another phone(V800)? I will try and clean the terminals as i dont think i have tried that properly.

Thanks again,

I mean if you have access to another plugplack.. try that plugpack with the v800 with the red light.

Then if you have access to another v800, try your plugpack with that one.

If the red light v800 charges with a different plugpack, then it's probably your plugpack thats faulty.
If your plugpack charges another V800 ok, then it's not the plugpack.

I do have access to another plugpack/charger but it makes no change even with the new battery. I think its possibly the phone's charging ability thats causing the problem. Or maybe even the terminals.

Thanks for your reply ZollyMonsta :)

It could be a firmware problem also that causes the phone to die, have seen in many SE’s. I can have a look for you, I will only charge if I fix it, you can contact me, I am in Auckland. Cheers
