AT&T today announced that it has reached an agreement with Sprint that will allow AT&T to sell AT&T-branded wireless service using Sprint's CDMA network. The five-year deal will make AT&T a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), similar to Virgin Mobile, which also uses Sprint's network. The new service is planned to launch later this year, after Cingular completes its acquisition of AT&T Wireless.

Sell up your GSM network and jump on to a nice CDMA network... nice!

AT&T was in the same situation as British Telecom: they spun off their mobile networks before knowing what the future would be. But make no mistake AT&T and AT&T Wireless were two different beasts.

In BT's case they spun off O2, and last year wanted to enter in a deal to work in a MVNO model. O2 said "thanks, but no thanks". Last we know, Vodafone and O2 announced an agreement today (19 May).

I actually think this is pertinent. It's just a (timely) report of industry news. Moving to a MVNO is also being done by other big operators, like BT.

I am able to bring it up in a new thread, for people who were not reading the GPRS vs. CMDA topic. If it was the other way around it would be the biggest news to hit the forum.

Operators like BT are not quite the same, because of the differences in the technology AT&T are going from.

John Sorry if I upset you.

Not really, I am saying that CDMA is more technological advanced. And people over hype GSM and think it is the be all and end all, like we over hype CDMA. I am just batting for my side here. Just like you bat for yours John.
