Well, I got my lovely new Sanyo 8100 yesterday. Got it swapped over to my number, and contract. But what hey, their computers are having trouble - specifically the MPU which deals with all these number changes and ESN allocations etc, and supposedly can proccess 2 per second.

Alas, its 'down', and has a backlog of 25,000 ~ 30,000 orders or somesuch.
I tried ringing up *22800 for the Mobile Provisioning people, but they must not work evenings - I get 'The Mailbox of 'Mobile Services' is full. Sorry'. And after ringing up *123 (the only numbers I can ring, except 111) I get told I should probably be on the network Monday afternoon / evening, possibly tuesday.

Hooray! :/

Indeed...... major problems for them, and consumers, because as the customer service dude said to me, they're losing a lot of money from over 25,000 customers not being able to use their cellphones.

Roll on monday/ tuesday.
At this point, It's a $699 paperweight.

i'm more than a little peeved - they should spend the $$ and have someone fix this. i'm without a phone all lon gweekend now. i asked the retailer, if they can't do the swap in time fo teh long weekend, then don't do it.. the retailer understood the ESN swap usually takes 4 hours, but it's been nearly 3 days for me now. i expected better quality of service from telecom.

0800 000 000 should give you Telecom Service Express. Good number to try things.

Has the swap gone through yet? Even with the delays over queens birthday it should never take that long. I've done an esn swap in less than a day this week.
Yes there were problems but they seem to be fixed now

Swap finally happened sometime on tuesday morning. Was a pain being without a phone while on away at a conference all weekend.

I've had my flatmate demonstating a vodafone swap to me all week... Sim card out, simcard in, turn on.. Sim card out, simcard in, turn on.. Sim card out, simcard in, turn on.. .. ad infinitum...
