The web has plenty of LG Prada reviews from fasion consultants and the like, what I'm after is a review from this community. My wifes V3 has died and this appears to be the desired replacement. I need to know if it operates well as a phone (circuit voice and SMS) and allows me to manage it. i.e. outlook synchonisation. Packet functionality is not as important, but input this aspect would be interesting.

The only mention of the Prada on the forums is from an Apple fan who discounted it as "crap" compared to an iPhone, but I'm not sure if that user had used both (or either).

Any reviews from people who have actually used, or ideally supported one, would be appreciated.

Well I bit the bullet and gave it a shot, not the best decision of my life. The Phone itself is great and my wife loves it, but I can't get it to connect for synchronisation (it has a mass storage mode and data mode). It attempts to load the following "lg: 1 CDC and 1 ms and 1 dps" device, which MS and the supplied disk does not have drivers for and that is the end.

This maybe a known LG issue, if someone has encountered this any advise would be appreciated.

Initial review: great looks, good camera and video with well developed interface and media player, but only for those who have all there contacts on their SIM card.

The answer came from this forum http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/1139310-1.html

I had this as well. This is what I did to get it to work:-

[My Laptop is Windows Vista, but should apply for XP as well...]

1. Install Software (but don't run it yet)
2. Plug in Phone
3. Watch Windows installed devices and then give you 2 removable drives (internal memeory and memory card)
4. Unplug phone
5. Go into connectivity, and change USB conenction to "DATA" - NOTE: Make sure you press OK
6. Plug phone back in.
7. Run software, and it should work.

NOTE: This 'data' connection only lasts ONE TIME, you need to go into USB/Data in connectivity EVERY time you want to do a 'sync' or use their management software.

Thanks for posting this, lyonrouge. I don't own an LG phone, but you can bet that sooner or later someone else is going to come here looking for this very answer! Its stuff like this that makes GZ great!

Cheers,

George

I've got an LG KE970 and having the same problem with the mass storage on windows vista it keeps trying to install "lg: 1 CDC and 1 ms and 1 dps" device. I have tried the solution suggested by lyonrouge and even uninstalled the software and reinstalled, but still get the same problem. Anyother advice / sugestions as I really want to be able to transfer mp3,pics and video to / from the phone which I cant do using the LG Sync software Yell and I only got the phone 2 days ago

I'm not sure of the KE970, but, the diagnostic you are getting is it attempting to enter data connection, for transferring files on the Prada you need to go to settings -> Connectivity -> USB connection, the options there are Data Service or Mass Storage, change yours to mass storage and plug it in, the Vista inbuilt drivers should take over from that point and treat the phone like any other USB mass storage device.

Hope this helps.

Like the Prada phone I go to settings -> Connectivity -> USB connection, the options there are Data Service or Mass Storage, so I select Mass Storage and connect the phone to the PC. But Vista is just refusing to do anything with it. Time and again I've tried and it it just ends up in a knot. Have however got a Linux OS on the same PC so have booted into Linux and hey presto the phone is recognised straight away as a Mass Storage device. So can copy files to and from it but not the ideal solution. But unless theres a solution to getting Vista to work, I'll just have to put up with the inconvience!!! Anyway thanks for your help, if theres any other suggestions brill. Where Vista failed Linux has triumphed!! Smile

Oh yes, the infamous "LuckyGoldstar Composite" it's the usual driver for "modem" "Cellular data connection" and "diagnostic port" but obviously a bug interrogates it even when mass storage is selected!

I'm using a different phone and never got around this. Maybe I still have a combination driver lying about for it, I'll have a hunt.
