A couple of weeks ago I noticed some scratches on the screen of my phone. At the time I thought it must have been something I had done, so I was careful to make sure the key pad and screen was always clean to avoid anymore scratches. yesterday I noticed some more. On closer inspection the scratches are all horizonal and match the position where the numebr keys touch the screen when the phone is closed.

Has anyone else had this problem? I bought the phone last november, so would the warranty cover this sort of issue?

Cheers

I would say so... It could be damage caused by the engineering/manufacturing process?

I took it into the dealer where I bought the phone from, it appreas that the lid a little loose left to right (he showed me another 4020 for comparison). the movement left and right over the screen seems to be what is causing the scratches. The phone nromally sits on my desk for the whole day and when I tkae it out it sits in a loose jacket pocket. It has not been dropped at all so I am not sure why the lid is mvoing so much. I had put the phone is as a warranty claim, not sure if it will work, but I need to get something done other wise by the time my contract expires I will not be able to read the screen.

No luck with the Warranty claim, scratchs deemed to be general wear and tear. Not too impressed that after 6 months they are considered general wear and tear. Not much I can do about it though, just have to look after phone until contract reuns out and hope that the scratches do not get much worse.

here's an idea - take your phone to a jeweller - They have buffing machines for removing scratches from watch faces. They will be gentle and will likely be able to buff the scratches from your phone.
If you can't find a jeweller to do that, than ask almost any optomotrist.
