Hi folks.. just bought a second hand 6165 off TM. Heard so much about them..especially the true GPS capability. Have read some notes written some timeago by others..  just wondering if any more recent experiences you have had with this phone? Pros.. Cons..? You know the rest..  Cheers

I haven't had any issues with a 6165 myself.

Camera is so so. GPS is quite neat but basic -takes a while to get a lock on.

Only con is the aerial.

Hi there..    aerial? whats with the aerial?  I thought being a 1 mp camera, it would be ok.. has to be lots better than the standard vga? not as good as the samsung w531 or whatever its called with its 1.3 camera huh? and the GPS is true gps off the satellites huh? takes a while to lock on  as in cold, but after that its a lot faster?

What I was meaning is that the aerial pokes out. I perfer internal aerials myself.

GPS takes a little while to lock on (yes it uses satelites rather than the cell phone network) - so when you go outside and turn it on, it can take a little while to provide your position. Particularly compared to my navman.

Aaaah.. thanks for that. Another question..  when texting.. it uses t9 right? when you use the t9 ( the fast way of entry) and you want to enter a new word into the dictionary so that each time you want to say .. yay.. or lol.. or ..or anythign thats not already in the dictionary, can you simply keep on addingnew words? Is there  a limit? in that.. after a while the new words you enter start to overwrite the first ones you ever entered, starting the whole process all over again? I know the LG does soemthign like that.. has some limit of new words and then you seem to have to start off again..one by one..   ?

The GPS is a good performer and is quite sensitive but it is very basic.

it's a good phone based on a proven Nokia platform.

Java applications can be freely installed so try some other GPS apps that might be about.

but..The hinge is weak, try not to strain it too much while using it or sit on the phone in a pocket in any way.

The internal memory is only about 6 MB and there is no memory card support.

The camera is not superb but it's much much nicer than "vga" and video mode is smooth.

Overall Great phone for the very affordable price.
