Anyone know what the Kiwi story is about importing phones ?

If you import a phone are you allowed to sell same phone or does it have to pass some kiwi approval thingy?

Charger has to be a legit NZ one if you sell it with the charger.

Other than that, no nothing. Its not like the dark old days of landlines where the local monopoly stifled imports with a permit process that was expensive and useless.

If it works on the bands for the network you wish to use the handset on then no issue

First, I've updated the subject on this thread. It would help immensely if you could put some good subjects - I have been updating some of your threads lately.

You're free to import anything phone related. Might have to pay GST of course, if cost + shipping is over $400 but you probably already know it.

GSM is 2G only. When selling in New Zealand you have to worry about 2G, 3G and 4G.

2G = GSM
3G = WCDMA
4G = LTE

Now, if you offer a phone in New Zealand you will have to specify if it works on 2degrees, Spark or Vodafone. They all use different combinations of bands (Spark doesn't even have GSM, only WCDMA and LTE for example).

So if you are not 100% sure you might have unhappy customers.
