Hi all

Recently bought a galaxy s5 for its great battery and waterproofness at reasonable price. (Having doused a few phones in the toilet).

Discovered it has this really annoying charger cover for waterproofness which i bet won't last if its pulled on and off every day. Looked into wireless charging...options seem to be:

1. Buy a really expensive Samsung OEM flip case (not sure i want a flip case at all and can't find in NZ)

2. Buy a new Samsung OEM hard back case that supports wireless charging (probably best option but not available anywhere that i can find...Samsung website says they are no longer available and can't find any online)

3. Non samsung option. The older posts on this - which is most of them as its an oldish phone now - say that the "bulky" wireless charging things you stick to the battery may make the case bulge and reduce waterproofness.

I'm wondering whether (a) anyone has an S5 charging case to sell or (b) does anyone know about the non-Samsung options, any specific ones that people have tried and work?

Thanks!

Came up empty when looking for one for my sisters phone which has a dead USB socket on it, and those are expensive to replace on the S5's so it was basically a write off unless pulling the battery out and charging in an external was viable, which it wasnt.

I bought aftermarket wireless charging pads for my note 2, they were horridly unreliable, slow and annoying with the frequent disconnects/reconnects. The wireless plate was very fussy about which adapter would work with it. If you can't find OEM then forget it.

I've had an S5 for just over two years now. The little charger port cover broke a few months ago, so I bought a replacement on Trademe. Cost me about $6 I think. It's actually more robust than you think, but you're right, kind of annoying. I looked into wireless charging when I bought it, but I think from memory you have to add a whole new back cover on your phone, which is thicker and makes it not fit any cases.
