hello all,
i recently purchased a gtran 4020 and i was wondering a bit about the predictive texting on the phone.
at the moment i cant see how to possibly write some words. for instance, when you write a word - say - barnaby you get to what would be 'barbab_' it writes "abroad" and then beeps upon my pressing of the final 'wxyz' key.

i was wondering 2 things.
1 - if its possible for this friggin thing to learn words.
and 2 - can you make the phone begin a text set to predictive or 'word' as it calls it?

thankyou very much.

I think you may have misread the original post, John.

On most handsets, there is a 'spell word' option which you can use when you are operating within predictive mode and attempting to enter a word which is not already in the internal dictionary. If it's not possible to do this on the gtran, then you'd have to switch to manual text input mode prior to inputting a word not in the dictionary, which would be a real pain.

yes. its awful.
this phone is going to be alot of trouble i think.
my old vodafone one had a strange txt system too but it attempted words if they were spelt wrong, it'd create a word which would sometimes do.
if you try an unknown word on the gtran it beeps and leaves no indication as to whether or not you can add anything to the dictionary.

it uses a system called ez-1
i wonder if anyone knows about it

I used one of these phones for a while, and couldnt seem to figure out how to enter own words. In the end I gave up and just left the predictive txt off all the time.
