I'm not sure if this is the best place, but it is all about mobile communications...

Anyway, two issues: The first is that, when I try to browse the web using GPRS on my Treo 680, I'll often get Data Timeout Errors. This can usually be fixed by repeatedly disconnecting from GPRS and then connecting again. I mostly use ChatterMail for that purpose, and Chatter is running in the background pretty much all day, if that makes a difference. It shouldn't though...

The second is that I seem to be having trouble sending Text Messages in Chinese from my 680. I use CJKOS, which is set GBK currently. Anyway, I can send small text messages fine, but if I try to send a longer one, it won't send and gives me a 407A error. I can fix that by taking my battery out of my phone for a while, but that doesn't mean I can send it again. I'm not sure what's up here. Anyone able to help me out here? I'd really like to get to the bottom of this. :(

Does the issue happen with SIM in another handset?
Have you the latest handset software?

Sounds like a handset bug I browse the web for many hours on my handset using 2G/3G and only time it times out is going into very low coverage

Don't really have another SIM I can afford to test with (Data is so expensive on Prepay...). I could if there's no other suggestions, but I'd prefer not to.

With regards to the firmware, I have tried updating, but it won't let me. No idea why. The phone is probably a little on the dodgy side as I bought it in China for a fairly high discount.

I just tried sending a message in Chinese, and it wouldn't send it, no matter how many times I tried. 407A each time. I split it into several smaller messages, and it worked fine, sent with no problems. That's probably the one that's annoying me more right now, actually... The message totalled 43 chinese characters, which registered on the phone as 86 characters for the purposes of message splitting, if it makes a difference.

EDIT: Thanks for the speedy reply!

Fair enough. Thanks for the help :)

DSE does sell this brand of phone, though likely with different firmware...

Why the DNS 0.0.0.0 should work fine

The DNS was automatically set. I'll try it without and see if it causes problems. Thanks. :)
