Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on the easiest way to transfer contacts from my old Nokia 6235 on Telecom to my new Motorola V3 on Vodafone.

The Nokia has infrared and can connect via Nokia PC Suite, but the Motorola has Bluetooth and cannot sync contacts from Nokia PC Suite.

What should I do about this?

  1. Sync Nokia to Outlook.
  2. Sync Motorola to Outlook.
  3. Have a beer.

Cheers, I am pretty confident with that third step but wondering if there is a good guide online somewhere for the first two steps you suggest?

Your nokia suite should be able to sync with Outlook and here is a few links for some software to hook your v3 to your laptop as long as you have USB, and please no beer on a Thursday at 11 a.m.? hasn't even gone mid day yet!

You should be able to skip Outlook completely, which may make the process easier.
In Nokia PC Suite, export the contacts in vCard format, then you can import that directly into Motorola Phone Tools.

Or..

1. Have your Nokia in your left hand open at contacts
2. Have your Motorola in your right (if you're left handed change the position)
3. Read the left one and write it  to the right one.
4. Have a beer at 8pm (that will be the time you finish if you start this exercise in the morning)

Yup, that last one ought to do it, although there might be a few steps in-between...
1)  avoid the owners.
2)  Avoid anyone who looks like a grinch.
3)  Go for someone you know and have actually set it up with in private before-hand, especially observing number one again.

(Don't ask me, I would probably get shot if I was caught...)

Nope, Telecom's phone book transfer system know's when you put in a Vodafone SIM card and will refuse to complete the transfer, and fair enough too.
