I'm joining a conference call with the army tonight, and would prefer to do it from my mobile because it has speakerphone. I've been told it's a free call, but I'm not sure if this means it's free for mobiles or just landlines. I'm hoping someone can tell me from the phone number. However, I'm not sure if it's classified information or not, so I can only offer part of the number :/ There's also a pin, but I'm guessing that's immaterial to this query. The number is 08***3.

Thanks.

That number looks like it is for the Telecom hosted conference line.

It is a bog standard number, and each conference gets its own pin. When you enter that pin it takes you to the corresponding room.

It will be a toll call AFAIK, from non telecom numbers?

Unfortunately it's NOT free from landlines OR mobiles unless you are using the 083033 option where the convenor pays for all charges.

My wife was using this service last year and it was costing 48c + GST (i.e. 54c) per minute.  This was during the evenings after 6pm on a weeknight.  During Business Hours it's even more expensive at 72c incl. GST per minute.

Full pricing details are here:  http://www.telecom.co.nz/content/0,8748,202274-201662,00.html

Crap because that took more than an hour. They did tell us it was free though, so hopefully the army is paying for it, because that's a rather expense rate.

If it was 083033, then yes, it is free.
