Anyone here work for Vodafone?????
When are Vodafone going to have a bulk txting plan like Telecom do?
I wish Vodafone had something like $10 TXT.

If anyone here works for Vodafone tell them to hurry up and release a bulk txting plan for PREPAY users.

loads of ppl have asked them. their stance is apparently that they are market leaders not followers. besides, if they did come out with it, then their revenues would be slashed, thats where voda make a lot of bread and butter in the otherwise low ARPU prepaid market.

yeah but its would be great also if Vodafone could say have FREE TEXTING WEEKENEDS for all of this year and next otherwise alot of Vodafone's customers will be switching to telecom. And then Vodafone will be paying the price for not having bulk text messaging or FREE texting.

Both networks have their advantages and disadvantages, and no matter what you do, you will always have a migration of customers both ways - its unstoppable. Frankly, with both companies responsibility to shareholders to make buckets of money, i think there should be a big thumbs up to the both of them for making cellphone calling, texting and data so accessible to most NZers.

People moan about the cost of text, yet even at 20c its half the cost of posting a letter, and almost infintely faster and easier.

I used to send about 3000 txts a month when it was unlimited, just because I could. Now that I only txt when I need to, I send approx 200 a month.

The reason Vodafone haven't introduced a bulk SMS plan is simple - they have no need to. Look at the simple facts in regards to customer numbers and ARPU and it's obvious that Vodafone are a cash cow compared to Telecom. Telecom are no longer the market leaders, they are followers. Vodafone may have lost customers to $10 TXT but their customer growth figures are still way ahead of Telecom - in the last 1/4 Vodafone had their biggest number of new customers since they arrived here in 1998. Telecoms latest offers of free airtime credits to the value of your phone are desperate attempts to get customer churn from Vodafone in what is traditionally the busiest 1/4 of the year leading up to Xmas.

If you want $10 TXT move to Telecom, the fact you are on Vodafone at the moment and have not switched to Telecom for $10 TXT tells me that there is something else that makes you want to stay a Vodafone customer - if there wasn't you would have switched.

Johnr,

Alot of teenages do not want to be on an ACCOUNT plan. we like prepay. $10 TXT is available on prepay with telecom. Vodafone should bring out a $10 TXT plan and let ppl send up to 500 TXTS a month to any network. So what if Vodafone are copying telecom. Telecom copied vodafone when vodafone made 49 cent calling because they didn't want customers switching to vodafone. Vodafone is going to lose heaps of $$$ because why should we be paying more than $10 for TXT a month on vodafone when we can switch to $10 TXT and we get 500 texts for that. The only reason i'm on vodafone is because i'm saving up sum $$$ to buy a telecom phone. Then im saying bye bye vodafone ur too $$$ hungry. Ppl would be stupid not to be on telecom's $10 TXT cuz u save a heap of money. It puzzles me why vodafone won't bring out $10 TXT. I also know that alot of my mates are getting telecom phones for christmas. Man if I was Vodafone I'd be implementing $10. Vodafone would be stupid not too. Telecom's $10 TXT is guaranteed for all of 2005. 1 WHOLE YEAR. Johnr if you are in contacting with vodafone sales and marketing I'd pass this info onto them.

$10.00 text is costing Telecom and they are doing this by the strangle hold on the home line market, If it was not for this they would not offer this service, If a 027 customer sent alot of there 500 text to a 021 number it costs Telecom.

Thats why on motormouth on Acc the 200 text are valid 021-021 only, Why should vodafone vodafone pay Telecom they already pay them enough on interconnect fees plus the kiwi share agreement.

Vodafone knows what is happening in the market place they know the figures and they know the growth and the figures are really good. $10.00 text does not pay for new mobile networks and R&D or staff. It will be Telecom share holders losing out as well

This is all I am writing on this subject as I dont work in marketing,

It's the 50000 or so customer like you that Vodafone don't really care about. You txt all day but generate no revenue - just answer these 2 questions and you'll answer the question yourself as to why Vodafone aren't interested.

- How many $$ do you spend per month on voice calls? My guess is probably max $5

- How many of your 500 TXT's are send to 021/029 numbers? My guess is probably about 250

You have generated Telecom $15 in revenue for a month. You generated almost $40 in revenue for Vodafone as Telecom had to pay Vodafone this money to terminate the SMS messages you sent. That is a net loss for Telecom of $25 for the month on one customer and for Vodafone they generated almost the same APRU as they would have if you had been a customer on their network.

Companies exist to make money, not lose it. Telecom's coffers are big enough to sustain these losses to differentiate themselves in the marketplace. Just because they want to lose money doesn't mean Vodafone should have to just because you want them to. Do you go into McDonalds and keep telling them you want a Big Mac for $1 because that's all you think it's worth?
