Is there a way to extend the number of rings before Voicemail kicks in?

Is this a phone setting or a service-provider setting?

Why not just turn off voicemail?

Yes many threads on Geekzone about this and it also depends on which provider and postpaid or prepaid as with VodafoneNZ prepaid you can't extend paging time but if you disable Voicemail then paging time is 40 seconds then inbound call dropped

FYI it's not number of rings but paging time

Oh, sorry, mea culpa …. it is a Vodafone Pre-pay.

So 20 seconds is default paging time before call is passed over to Voicemail and can't be changed but if Voicemail is disabled then 40 seconds paging time and incoming call dropped

I'm not sure why this thread was not posted in the Vodafone section on Geekzone

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Simply because I wasn't sure if it was a phone/Android setting, or a telco setting, but thank you again for the correct technical terminology and information.
