Hello,

As a new user for a TREO 600 unit I have been using GPRS and on a daily basis checking my data usage. But Vodafone fails to update their site. The sales chap told me it usually updates with 5hrs. I have had the PDA/Phone for several days now and still waiting ?? - is this a common trend for tracking data statistics for GPRS on the Vodafone network?

Thanks in advance :)

I was reading a report where the author points this as a problem for GPRS operators. Users prefer an all-you-can-eat GPRS plan simply because with an account plan they don't/can't know how much they've used, therefore having no control of their balances.

As you have found out, billing systems don't seem to talk to other customer services systems very often.

Very interesting. I would definitely have a thumbs up to an unliimited plan. USA users just get it so sweet for US$30/month they get unlimited !!! - I guess it obviously comes down to the customer base - NZ just does not have enough GPRS users.

I would be interested to know how much usage you came up with at the end of the billing cycle as I am going to buy a Treo 600 as well.. :)

I believe there is a software that tells you how much data you exactly used per each session and shows you weekly/monthly reports and stuff..

Cheers

.. I will let you know. I contacted Vodafone this morning and still no usage data!

I must say Iam impressed with the TREO even though it is a heavier phone to carry in my pocket compared to a Nokia Blue! . Go buy one Gina!

If you happen to know the name of the app that logs the data usage I would be interested to know. This would be a better method to track usage.

SBP GPRS manager. Very accurate and even handles the 10KB rounding and multiple "profiles"
they also have a useful full screen Keyboard which is alsio quite good.

I use SPB GPRS Monitor, and it's really good. It takes the plans in consideration and it's accurate... It's for Pocket PC though.

Well Vodafone appear to have their stats page for GPRS updating on a daily basis. I did find some stats software but I will not need this anymore since I can just login to Vodafone instead.

I have found that the most data I would use in a day is 600k that is minimal webpages and the majority email. I do not however use my device every day otherwise it would be a lot higher. Plus I am very strict about my usage. I am currently on the 25meg plan.
