BXT International Ltd, trading as BecexTech New Zealand. Also known as;

  • BecexTech Australia
  • BecexTech UK
  • Julian Technology Limited (Ltd) – Directed and owned by Santo Julian LUDY

(This is the parent company of BXT International, owning a 100 percent share. This is also the bank account that is supplied for all purchases on their websites.)

I unfortunately had the misfortune of dealing with this company. In 2015 I purchased a Samsung Galaxy S5 Mobile phone from their website, after finding them to have the best deal through PriceSpy.

I immediately began experiencing issues with voice communication on the phone.

After endless emails and trouble shooting advice from Becextech, I eventually returned the phone to them to be inspected. – They said it was faulty as a result of impact damage, as they managed to locate a small blemish on the side of the phone.

I requested that they return the phone to me so that I could have it independently inspected, however they would not release this to me until I had paid for their inspection and administration costs.

Two independent inspections of the phone revealed that a chip on the circuit board had failed, and was not at all related to impact damage.

I was unable to negotiate with BecexTech at all. They never replied to my emails. – I progressed the matter to the New Zealand Disputes Tribunal, and a judgement was ruled in my favor, ordering BecexTech to reimburse me for the full cost of the phone and all subsequent damages.

This Judgement can be downloaded here.

Neither BecexTech or Julian Technology has made any contact with me. I have not received any payment from them which was ordered. – Two years have now elapsed.

Upon investigating this company, I learned that their ‘physical’ addresses which they list are all virtual offices and they have never physically been there. This is just a façade to give the appearance of a legitimate company, however they are actually offshore in Hong Kong.

The New Zealand Consumer Magazine published an Article on BecexTech in 2017 warning consumers not to buy from them following a concerning level of complaints.
https://www.consumer.org.nz/articles/dont-deal-with-electronics-retailer

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission found that BecexTech was misrepresenting products for sale on it’s website; selling used and refurbished phones without passing that information on to the consumer. – Several undertakings were put in place as a result of this.
https://www.accc.gov.au/system/files/public-registers/undertaking/1204776-1-87B%20Undertaking%20-%20BXT%20International%20Limited%20-%20signed%2012%20December%202017.PDF

It is evident that this company is dishonest and dirty. Their pre-sale support is exceptional. Their post-sale support is non-existent. If you have a problem with one of their products (chances are high that you will) you will find yourself forever chasing their tail, whilst they ignore your emails.

A WARNING TO ALL FELLOW NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIAN CONSUMERS. – Pay the extra $5 and buy from a local source having verified it first.

Update: Problem has been resolved by Sam from BXT

Depending on how much time you want to invest your next step would be to proceed with court enforcement.

https://www.justice.govt.nz/fines/about-civil-debt/collect-civil-debt/

You can also add on interest & enforcement costs to this https://www.justice.govt.nz/fines/civil-debt-interest-calculator/

However as they're likely a shell company with no assets in NZ realistically all of this may just lead to the company being liquidated.

It is hard enough to enforce on people who actually live in New Zealand, let alone an overseas supplier.

Although, the credit card companies enable these fraudsters by allowing them to take your money.   Perhaps it is the payment providers that need a shake up here?  Lay a complaint with visa/mastercard?  I have no idea if it would be effective.

But, once I managed to get a trader banned from paypal. Paypal were great, they refunded my money and removed the sellers authority to take payments.

Which, if it were me in OP's position, I'd want to see happen - just to ensure the seller faced some degree of inconvenience.

If they have bank accounts in NZ, that'll mean someone opened them, and the court will have something to go after.

must admit that i have been tempted by their pricing... was just lucky to have read the warning from consumer.

i feel for you... i really can't see what else can be done... if it comes down to it, they'll fold and pop up again with a different name.

thanks for sharing this! you're likely sparing some from the same ordeal.

I’ve seen this company’s name thrown around on other forums like GP a few years ago now and even than it was warned not to deal with them so they have a long history of this type of behaviour.

The more that know about this outfit the better. I still see their name pop up every now and than with people wanting to purchase due to low prices. Stay away

Since posting the original post I have had contact from BecexTech. They stated that they are keen to resolve this issue and that customer satisfaction is a top priority to them.

I am awaiting an offer from them and will display it here once received.

Clearly customer service is not a priority, and they're trying to do damage control. Get your money, and everything you've spend trying to recover it, then continue to try to have the company dissolved.

You should have read the posts above - The OP did state that they later found out they were a totally off-shore business.

It can be difficult to see if a business really has its feet on the ground in NZ sometimes.

Sorry, but that doesn't really wash with me. Took me less than a minute to determine what it was when I first looked at them. There are many like them that cropped up at the same time.

It's unfortunate that the OP had this experience, however, like with any purchasing decision, people should be doing a reasonable amount of due dillegence.

OP I hope you get a resolution you can live with.

Would love to see Pricespy remove these guys and others like them - no doubt that is where 95% of their customers come from.
