Hi Guys. I want to get 1 (maybe 2) Nokia 6121's from NZ for use in Australia on Optus new 900MHz UMTS network, hence I don't really want the Vodafone Software on it. I know it’s possible, but how involved is it to change this before I rush away and purchase one?

There seems to be very little info on de-branding this phone. I've tried, but although I've found some alternate product codes, it does not want to reload the software. I suspect it just looks at the software version and will only load up a later version (not released yet as far as I know).

The 6121 was always developed exclusively for Vodafone so I doubt you'll find generic software for it.

You'll need the 6120 for a device you can load generic software on.

Yea, 6220 would be fine, except I need 900MHz UMTS!

Might just have to live with it, should't be a problem as it will only be used for voice and sms.
