My wife now uses her phone in place of a Kindle - currently a Huawei GT-3. This is very much a budget phone running Android 7 and no longer getting security updates. Primary usage is downloading and reading electronic library books through an app called LIBBY. She also uses the phone to do email, social media, talk and text. The current problem with the GT-3 (from her perspective) is battery condition in that the battery charge levels decline rapidly indicating that the (non-replaceable) battery is nearing the end of its life. This is unsurprising given that the screen is on for long periods for reading.
Primary need therefore is an Android handset with battery capacity as a first priority with screen quality and WIFI speed being important but secondary considerations (given that she is accustomed to the GT-3). I am assuming that battery replacement for the GT-3 is not an option, given that phone service outlets seem to target much more expensive handsets.
While price is a consideration and she is used to budget-level hardware, we would be prepared to pay a little more for quality.
There is a mesmerising level of choice out there - I am hoping that GZers can provide me with pointers to handsets I may not be able to find for myself.
Thanks in anticipation.
