Sanyo 4920 released today - check telecom.co.nz for specs.

Its $249 (Prepaid Price). 65k colour screen. Very much like the 8100 in terms of UI. Its fat and solid (not a slim small phone by any means).

Build quality seems good. No camera. Has PTT and speakerphone (PTT service not available just yet though).

Nice size buttons, although the keypad layout has changed slightly compared to the 8100. The menu/ok key is off to one side instead of in the middle of the arrow keys. That was slightly annoying, but you would get over it in five minutes.

Nice loud ringtones (almost identical to 8100, with the addition of a couple more)

urgh. it doesn't get any rewards for Style IMO. The 4 way button in the Middle reminds me of my Siemens C60. It has a Nice Price though I'd pay $50 more to get this than the N361.

Your right - its a bit of a brick. Good value for those that want a solid easy to use phone with a very easy to read screen. Certainly better value than the $199 6015 Nokia and 361 Samsung. (Although the Samsung is great if you just want a phone for calling only, its nice and small)

True! i had a play with a N361 and it's a nice and easy phone to use and the screen is quite good IMO. I was going to get it but then they released the TX115C So I got that instead.

It's F-UGLY. I glanced my eyes upon it thinking 025 was taking one last breath in the Telecom store when I bought be beloved Harrier and the last pic my old 6225 took was of this monstrosity.

Mate in aussie could not believe his eyes. It's obviously another "sprint" deal just like the 8100..
note, I have not used this phone, the functuality might make up for it looking like an 025.

Let's hopes it's sturdyness and ease of use makes up for it's bricklike appearance.

its priced alongside smaller phones, so its not like people arent being given a choice, and lots of people like having the option of something a lot more solid feeling, especially to give to staff members on say a building site etc where they need thatt type of unit.

A lot of people have trouble using smaller devices due to eyesight, arthritis, or just not coping with the technology etc

Okay it's brick like but finally had a play and for some reason I quite like it. probably the same reason I liked my old bricky 2130 Kyocera. It was a great phone calls only phone. just the right size/shape for that. does look pretty robust. Time to give it a test.

Next step is to make a "grandma" mode for it. where only the phone book, send/end and number keys work to make life simple,
The only phone to pull that off well was the 025 Philips ISIS. it made calls, was big and round, Rung very loud, and had jellybean keys. And did nothing else like confuse my poor Gran.

She LOVES it.
