Hey fella(ess)s,

Is there a way for a noob like me to tether my shiny new m510 to my even-more-shiny new macbook? I assume not. Seems the Telecom NZ version of the m510 has the DUN profile disabled for one reason or another, even though the sprint version has it.

Cheers ears,

I dont think it will, you could try and set it up as a standard 28.8 modem and then redirect it to the com port that the usb cable is plugged into, I used to do this with an old kyocera 2235, the hardest part is when the phone connects via the usb and it comes up as unrecognised device.

Ok so i got a USB cable to try. It tries to connect, comes up with Rx/Tx meters on the m510 screen, but then after a couple of seconds says "Error #67: Registration failure. Your internet username and/or password may be incorrect. Please try again. Note: repeated entries of an invalid password during a 24-hour period will result in a 20-minute suspension. A suspended Internet username may not be used until the suspension expires, even when submitted with the correct password. If this problem persists, you may need to contact Telecom. "

Then the mac says (tried using several different modem types, some get this, some just do nothing) "No carrier detected. Please check phone line connection and try again."

What are you using as the user name and password? (no I don't want to know them)
The phone will only connect to the mobile web with
User name mobile@jamamobile and password: telecom
dial number is #777

This uses mobile broadband data (casual rate $8 per mb)

Good Luck
