I need to transfer contents of an old samsung phone to a new one. What is the correct procedure, transfer using Smart Switch then set up Samsung and Google accounts or the other way round? Thanks.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

From memory, I signed in on my new phone when I last did this, then started the transfer. But that was a while ago though.

Yes what Linux said. It was pretty straight forward when I transferred my partners data from her nokia to a samsung phone just recently. From memory, starting up the new samsung phone - it asked if you wanted to transfer data from an old phone, selecting yes will will prompt you to install smart switch onto the old phone and wait for both to connect.. then it's a matter of selecting what data you want to transfer.

Pretty painless.

Yep - did this a couple of days ago.

two tiny gotchas - have your own whatsapp backup, and microsoft authenticator backup.

Other than that works easy as.
