For those who may be unaware Vodafone have just launched their prepay double top again today so you get double your $$ for free! Very nice for those on prepay but basically says stuff you to all the contract customers..:-(

For those people in Wellington it might pay to ring Vodafone and thank them for giving you half price parking if you now use the TXT a Park service, you can now park for $2 per hour instead of $4! :-)

It's all good though. I'm on account also, and customers on GET 70, GET 200, GET 300, Motormouth On Account or TXT 150 get double the free minutes and txts and pxts for a month.

and..?? getting one month of double offpeak airtime and a few extra sms's and pxts is a raw deal compared to 1/2 price calling, 1/2 price sms, 1/2 price pxt, 1/2 price auto roaming to oz and the UK and 1/2 price car parking. As a contract customer who spends quite a substancial amount with Vodafone I feel shafted and I'm sure many others feel the same way when they're paying big $$ to Vodafone and getting absolutely nothing as a bonus.

The least they could have done for Talk customers was to make the offpeak mins anytime mins for a month, at least that would have been a slightly more generous offer

remember prepay users pay a premium

if your on get 300 you get dirt cheap per min rates

I believe double up will change some peoples behaviours, top up and change their spending pattern - call instead of text and then after the promotion its not 'half price' anymore

ah well.. you win some you lose som

From a marketing perspective, I think that the intention of this promotion is to create a switching cost to anyone who may be considering moving to another network. The idea is that people will top up their accounts with masses of credit while they have this opportunity and, while their prepaid accounts have huge amounts of credit on them, they will not want to switch to another network.

It is definately awesome marketing yet again from Vodafone - it's just that they are offering the deal again to prepay users and giving on contract customers very little in comparison. Prepay customers make up the bulk of their customer base yet it's the contract customers who have the highest ARPU and are the customers you don't want to annoy.

I sell vodafone at the store that I work at and it makes it a hell of a lot easier to close the deal. Funny thing was, that the customers all knew about it before we found out so we all sounded dumb for the first day that it was offered.

It could also be that they want to load on a huge revenue before the end of the accounting period so that their balance looks nicer and top level management gets a bigger bonus, then shareholders get happy and so forth.
