My wife has been looking into getting a new phone recently and is quite keen on the Blackberry Pearl, partly because it looks nice and comes in pink, but mostly because of the extra keys for texting. She's a fairly prolific texter but doesn't really think she'd use the internet and email features very much, if at all. Would this phone be suitable for her without a Blackberry plan? I really can't justify an extra $40 a month for features she may or may not use.
She did comment that she might like to upload pictures to Facebook occasionally, can that be done by changing the APN and using the casual data rate?
