The Sanyo 7400 is gonna be the hottest phone for Telecom. It can take photo's, Video message, and can do pretty much the same as a normal phone can do. It cost in NZ 599.99rrp. I'm getting one very soon. If you want to see the mobile. Go to telecom.co.nz and click on Buy phones and accessories. Then it is the only one that has video messages

I just got one, an upgrade from telecom. It's only 6 hrs old, and I noticed a problem with my "7" key, it doesn't register when I press it lightly, or if I press it multiple times it misses. I have to press it quite harder than all the other keys for it to register. Most noticeable when I am txting.
I'll ring them in the morning, hopefully they send me a replacement and not send me to the service centre, seeing as it is a DOA.

Sanyo 7400 cannot connect to Mobile Broadband (1xRTT,EV-DO).

That has got to be the major drawback from my point of view.

Quite cool watching the news on ur cellphone though :)

I'm surprised that the 7400 doesn't support EV-DO, considering that the 4900 supposedly does. Definitely a trap for unwary punters.

The Sanyo 7400 and 4920 are not EVDO or Mobile Broadband. They are both 1xRTT. Don't really see why that is an issue. I have had a 7400 for months and everything works very well on 1xRTT.

In its old format, the phone showcase on Telecom's web site stated that the 4900 was EV-DO compatible. I did have my doubts when I read that, and I notice that they've corrected it on the new online phone store.

my sanyo7400 arrived yesterday and died today.. everytime you took a pic or video the screen said "saving to in camera" then went black and then said "looking for telecom service" then" entering telecom service", did this for a few hours, then when I went to see what was in the pic album it just powered itself off and now it refuses to start at all, have taken the battery off but still nothing....telecom will send a new one but am now phoneless for 5 days, not a good look for my business... well Telecom went out of their way to get me mobile again, they replaced my 7400 and I must say it is an awesome phone THE BEST..

I have the Sanyo 7400 now. It is the best phone I have used in a long time. I am hopefully going to keep it until it dies. I like it how you can put wallpapers on the lcd screen as well as the big screen and you can have different wallpapers on different screens.

since there is no current software that fully supports the 7400, this link will allow you to download ringtones, wallpaper, java etc

http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint

carefull since Telecom want to rape and pillage us with their out of menu wap data charges. They also have disabled tethered data capabilities.

I use bitpim, its not 100% perfect by any means as its still in development. You can read and write the phonebok, read images from the camera and write a total of 4 ringtones and about 10 images to the phone due to limitations put on by sanyo unfortunatly when the phone is capable of holding WAY more than this. No games or apps etc unfortunatly
Have a look
