every time i stick my S22 Ultra on the car wireless charging - no android auto no connections

it gets hot enough to just about cook an egg

is that normal?

(it doesn't even charge at high power. say get about 10%+ per hour)

i'm going to stop this nonsense as i feel the battery is not going to like it in the long term

Does your phone show you any warnings when it gets hot? from what ive read it should. my phone, not a Samsung, gives me a warning at 45deg, dims the brightness and limits cpu speed to help lower the temp. its never gotten that hot while wirelessly charging, usually gets to about 35 degrees at 20 to 40% per hour charge.

download something to measure the rate of charge and temperature, because your anecdotal comments dont provide much actual evidence of the issue. that way you can see whats actually happening with it

something like gsam battery monitor will graph rate of charge, temperature etc.

Also wireless charging is inherently inefficient and does generate excess heat.

Perhaps it's not aligned with the charging coils properly. Can you reposition or turn around?

Cooking an egg does seem a bit hot...

I wirelessly charge my iPhone in the car all the time (plus oftentimes but not always connected to wireless CarPlay) and it gets hot, almost to the point of being uncomfortable to hold for a long period of time, but it does cool down pretty quickly once charging stops. I think it's just that wireless charging sucks and is massively inefficient.

Yeah I'd avoid the battery getting hot. Plug it in or wait until you're home. 10% an hour is nothing much anyway. My old phone had a wireless charger but it got hot so I stopped using it.

I have a s21 ultra and used to wirelessly charge overnight at the bedside because plugging it in at night was a hassle.

It seamed to get rather hot so I turned off fast wireless charging and that helped.

My Sony phone get hot and charges about 15% / hour on my Belkin 15w charger,
but only get mildly warm and charges about 25% / hour on my cheep as chips Yootech 15w charger.

So it always gets charged on the Yootech.

When I pick up my phone to exit the car, I always think it feels approximately "not good for the battery" degrees Celsius. I don't actually modify my behaviour though so ehhh...
