Ah Actaually the phones are both made by Curitel. Who licences them out to 3rd party companies i.e Audiovox and Hyundai. Although i think Curitel was part of Hyundai Electronics originally.

Audiovox and Hyundai (also known as Curitel) are one and the same, just with a different brand name.

ie the Audiovox 8900 is the Hyundai TX95C

They just do it for brand recognition. Everyone in NZ knows Hyundai and Everyone in the SA probably knows Audiovox.

Hyundai sold its handset manufacturing division to Pantech Curitel who manufacture handsets that are sold under various brand names of which Hyundai and Audiovox are two.

So you will find that most of the Hyundai handsets sold by Telecom are sold under other brands/models in other markets - but they are fairly much the same device. Pantech Curitel have to drop the Hyundai name shortly as its owned by the Hyundai corporation.

I know Curitel is now Selling it's handsets in America as Curitel so i'd say it'd be like that here too shortly.
