Is it possible to receive emails to my mobile phone and then transfer them to a laptop. I am with Vodafone NZ. I have a vodafone email address. I have a mobile phone that has an email client and both my phone and laptop have Bluetooth. Can this be done from overseas? Please let me know if you need more information to answer my question. Depending on your type of handset you are using, If you can sync your handset with your PC there is no reason why not, what type of phone are you using and check with the vodafone website to make sure they have GPRS roaming where you are going overseas and read the rates, GPRS plans in New Zealand are not valid on GPRS roaming partners.
Thankyou for your reply. The country I am going to has GSM roaming so my mobile phone will work, we have been previously so know this, but the country does not have GPRS roaming, so do I assume this method of retreiving emails with not work?
French Polynesia. We will be on a yacht so I will not have access to hotel internet. Previously I have checked my email by using my phone as a modem and connecting to my ISP but that has been a toll call as there is not internet roaming in FP. When travelling I generally use my ATTGlobal ISP. I was hoping for a cheaper method. I was hoping for cheaper method. Thanks again.
You dial back to your ISP and it will work at 14.4k max, its just the same as a home dial up connection but slower and you are charged for time connected not traffic moved. CSD = Circuit Switch Data
So using CSD is what I actually do when I use my mobile as a modem?? You learn somethin everyday!!
Generally when I travel I use my vodafone mobile connect card that uses GPRS global roaming but this is only good in countries that have global roaming.
