I have no idea how well positioned this question is, and I know nothing when it comes down to this type of stuff, but I would love for some advice.

My boss is planning on starting a private vehicle hire company, well actually, he's thinking about buying out a few in his region. I've been asked to find out a few technical things ahead of any decisions being formed...

Some of the companies use a gprs despatch system, I've gathered the basics of how that works. Another company has some two-way radio system (is it PMR?). Is it possible to develop / buy a despatch system that can interface with the two systems so that the database will always know the position of the vehicles? The gprs system already does this, we now need to establish if we need to get rid of the radio's in the one fleet and install the grps sets instead, or is a control office database system a potential solution?
