Anyone remember those $10 text message ads? Those were on quite a bit (well when I was in New Zealand).

They were aimed at the prepay market, which I guess the VF Live! ones were too (haven't seen them due to being out of the country).

I guess with the $10 text promotion (I call it a promotion as it *may* be terminated at the end of the year), it has achieved its desired effect and now word of mouth kicks in.

There were times that telecom literally flooded the TV with those $10 text ads.

I saw quite a few ads in papers before I left NZ and there are quite a few on Xtra (but they are owned by telecom, so what do you expect :P).

As I said before, their $10 text is pretty well known, so they probably just need to remind the masses that its still on etc... no need to flood TV with ads. (But what do I know, I'm just a student)

Vodafone was pushing for their live services when I left in late november, so its not really suprising that they are still trying to get people using it.

The advertising thing could possibly be because Mobile Advertising is not the only advertising concern for Telecom (landline/broadband etc..). Telecom uses different formats for advertising as well.

Vodafone has only one product to promote in NZ and thats Mobile.

Vodafone and Telecom go back and fourth playing the game "who can trick the other company into doing all the marketing their soon to be released product"

Note the mass Vodafone add campaine for PXT, followed by Telecoms sly yet all encompassing "T3G" ads.

its 3G time!

umm... The PTT billboards Vodafone are placing seem to be fairly prominent in Auckland... but here is evidence of Vodafone using some new, less mainstream, tactics to get this deal out:
