Just to let you know that this imported handset is appearing in outlets over here (NZ). Currently, the phone cannot be configured to work on the VFNZ network either for WAP browsing or MMS messaging. Shame - because it's a great phone. 136 views of my last post and not a single suggestion or reply indicate that there is no forseeable solution to this problem. Just thought I should share before anyone forks out some serious cash for something that won't work! Hope this helps.

Yes, I am in Auckland! I'd love to get it working. As to wether it is GSM 900 1800, I can only assume that it is. It can connect via GPRS to get email, and also connect to the WAP browser (OPENWAVE) software site via GPRS when I delete all other profiles in the phone. It just won't play ball with the settings from the VFNZ site. Any help VERY much appreciated! P.S. Just read the box and can confirm its Tri Band, with i.e. 900/1800 and 1900

Issues Resolved - The phone works an absolute treat, but only thanks to help and support of jcr976. It's great to know that people take note of what goes on, and that there are people who can help just for the sake of helping. Thank you very, very much!

I'm in New Zealand and on the Vodafone network.

OK - first things first. Are you sure that Vodafone have data enabled your phone account? And are you using what they call a Sim2 card - I'm pretty sure that you need the latest Sim for them to function properly.

Phone settings:

Press Menu, Press 4 for Browser, Press 5 Settings. Choose 1 and type over any profiles you may have already on the unit.

Profile name: Vodafone NZ
HOme: http://live.vodafone.com
Bearer: GPRS only
Proxy: Enable

Scroll down to GPRS Settings and press OK

IP address: 172.030.038.003
Port: 8080 (this is essential and differs from the setting on the Vodafone website)
APN: live.vodafone.com

Login: leave blank
Password: Leave blank
Works for me - let me know.

Save and save again (if asked) and you should now be able to connect.

Thanks for the help.

I am getting the following message when accessing my homepage:

"Error: request timed out"

When sending MMS I get:

"APN setting error"

I have sim 2 and I was able to use GPRS on my old phone with the same sim card.

Below are the MMS Setting that work for me...

Menu > Messages > 2 Multimedia Messages > 7 Settings > 3 MMS Profiles > 2 Profile Settings > the top level profile reads as follows on mine

Profile Name: Vodafone
Server URL: http://pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend (make sure this is exact and that there is no www and 2 //)
Proxy: Enable

Click on GPRS Settings

IP Address 172.030.038.003 (the zeros will disappear and it will then read 172.30.38.3)
Port: 8080
APN: live.vodafone.com
Login:leave blank
PAssword: leave blank

Worth remembering is that Vodafone NZ has a 100k limit on MMS and the phone can take much bigger photo images.

Hope this helps. Let me know...
