Just wondering why the N85 has a $1500 price tag, To me it has the look of some $200-$300 phones, with at my first glance the features of a $600-800 phone, which I would have thought it to be around $850 from telecom.

Is there something that I'm missing? some special feature, especially compared to the w995 which seems to have a better look/same features for $1000

thanks

You can compare the features here:

W995 - http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_w995-2682.php
N85 - http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n85-2496.php

The N85 is a "smartphone" hence it being a bit more expensive.
Note that you can get the N85 for around $870 (ish) from Phones Direct (not Telecom).

I'd rather get a netbook, any recommendations?

Well its not worth 1500 thats for sure, much cheaper through a parallel importer... Just another example of how much NZ telcos are gouging us for...

It's a good phone but certainly not worth upgrading my n95 just yet, especially some stuff that I find critical it's missing. (daylight viewable display, integrated Voip etc) though on the n85, things like video recording quality and general camera focus speed have been markedly improved.

Has anyone come across any local sellers of the US 850MHz version yet? I'm assuming some will pop up now the network is launched.
