Our company purchased 4 Harriers about 5 weeks ago.
We have flashed the new ROM update.

Problem:
3 of our phones (including mine) appear to hang ocassionally.
After a day or so you come to the realisation that you haven't had any phone calls or SMS. If you go to send an SMS it appears to get stuck in the Outbox, however the message is still sent. You don't get the little popup message saying that the message was sent.

If you try to use the phone to ring someone, it appears to dial and then the screen freezes and none of the on screen buttons will respond. The 'dial' and 'hangup' buttons on the front are also frozen.
The call is actually placed and the target number rings (I tried ringing my office phone) but the call is not actually connected and neither party can hear each other. At that point the 'phone' part of the Harrier is frozen. All other PDA functions appear to work fine.

Resolution:
Stylus up the bum... Soft Reset.
Only problem is that the phone then resends any SMS messages that are still in the Outbox.

The reset seems to fix the problem for up to a couple of days and then it occurs again.
It is a giant pain in the rear.
The problem is that you don't know that it has happened until you either try to use the phone or your wife thinks you don't love her anymore because you didn't answer her SMS from yesterday... :)

Is anyone else experiencing this problem???

I use mine for data only, so can't comment on this. however, it would help if you could list any third party applications installed on your devices. Are all of them running the same applications?

Do you have Exchange Server ActiveSync, and are you doing it over your CDMA EV-DO connection? Does it happen after a synchronisation?

How much memory you have available? Are you using Pocket Internet Explorer? If so, have you tried cleaning up the cache used by the browser? Does it help if you do so?

How about coverage? Do you have strong signal?

More questions to come, depending on your answers...

Thanks for the quick reply...

All phones are running the same apps:
Bulk standard out of the box plus Spb GPRS Monitor (after your recommendation)

'No' to Exchange Server Active Sync.

'No' to sync over CDMA EV-DO (USB sync only)

Memory - all running with about 40mb free in both storage and program, plus we all have a 1Gb SD card installed... (why 1Gb you ask?... Well, there is no substitute for cubic capacity and they are as cheap as chips...)

IE - used hardly ever. I think that I have probably used it for no more than 15 minutes to set up a "LogMeIn" connection to our main server just in case I ever needed it. The other guys may not have used PIE at all.

Coverage - Seems to be very good. We are in Nelson.

Hope that answers your questions...
Cheers,

edit - oops, forgot to mention the little activeX control or program that 'LogMeIn' installs, but that is only on 2 of the phones including mine.

Hi
We've also purchased 4 of these phones and 2 of them have a simlilar problem, however it may not be the upgrade which is causing your problem.....
The phones with the problems haven't been receiving calls as they go direct to voicemail. Telecom have told us it's a bug they have and the fix has been to reset their software and not the phones. It has something to do with the "rfl" ? We still haven't got the "fixed" phones back yet...
Good luck !
